Thirty CEAS students representing Hyperloop UC at the SpaceX Pod Competition are planning to travel to Hawthorne, Calif., hoping to further the development of a world-changing technology. This new breed of high-speed transportation would allow travel and shipping at roughly 200 mph faster than commercial airliners. The impact would effectively close the commuter gap, allowing passengers to live 400 miles from work and still commute in under 40 minutes. Think Cincinnati to New York in under an hour, or Los Angeles to San Francisco in 30 minutes. These students are looking to raise $5,000 to help cover travel expenses related to this trip in July.
