James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy Student Experiential Travel

$100 raised to help reach our goal of $5,000.

James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy Student Experiential Travel

Join the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy community in providing financial assistance to students who pursue travel through medical mission Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) and professional development conferences/competitions.

With support from donors, a new class of students will be able to deepen their education with experiential and professional travel. Your gift to one of the following funds will enable current students to gain experience in hands-on learning, cultural competency, empathy, and advance their networking and communication skills.

The UC Pharmacy Student Experiential Travel Fund provides financial assistance to students who participate in a medical mission Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) focused on the delivery of healthcare. Gifts to this fund have been used in recent years to support students going to Australia and Guatemala.

“This experience has significantly impacted my career path by deepening my passion for pharmacy and providing me with a global perspective on patient care. Observing the strong relationships between community pharmacies and their patients in Australia highlighted the fact that pharmacies anywhere can make a positive impact in their communities.”

Joseph Vu 2nd year Pharmacy Student, Study Abroad Australia

The Dr. Robert E. Lee Endowment Fund supports student attendance at state and national meetings, including travel expenses. Gifts to this fund have supported students as they travel to professional conferences and competitions such as but not limited to: APhA, OPA, ASHP Clinical skills Comp, SNPhA. On average, 50-60 students travel to various conferences and competitions throughout the year. Due to limited funds, at this point in time the College supports those presenting or competing at approximately $600 per student.

"I have always deeply valued hard work and the opportunity to use advocacy to amplify the voices of others, representing a larger community than just myself. Without this scholarship, I would not have had the financial means to attend the conference. I hope my story highlights the impact your generosity has had. This event was incredibly valuable for my growth as a student and future pharmacist."

With rising travel, lodging and registration costs and continued competitive growth within the field, exposure to international and professional travel is invaluable and offers UC Pharmacy students a leg up when entering the workforce.

Thank you for your continued support and positive impact on our students and the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy.
